Step One:
Download and then fill out forms. Documents must be typed. Handwritten documents will not be accepted. Then mail forms along with $100 certified check or money order to the The Superior Court (no personal checks accepted) made out to the "Superior Court of the Virgin Islands".

Application for Marriage Form

Note: Your original divorce decrees are retained by the court upon filing. Therefore, you should only send the Certified Copy of the Original which is obtained from the court in which you were divorced.

Step Two:

After you have mailed in your documents and payment wait about 3-5 days and call the court house 340-774-6680 ext 6207 to verify that your paperwork has arrived and that everything is in order.

You can ask them for a reference number your marriage license. If they have not assigned a reference number, ask them when you should call back to obtain it. You may also want to verify if your wedding date falls on a government holiday or a Virgin Island holiday. If it does ask for special instructions.

Once the application has been processed there is a required eight-day waiting period before you are allowed to get married.

Step Three: (St. Thomas)

Once you arrive on St. Thomas a quick trip to the courthouse is required to pick up your marriage license in person. No swimsuits or shorts are allowed. You can arrange for a personal escort to greet you at the ship's gangway to take you to the court house to pick up your marriage license and then head to your wedding site. You will need to bring photo ID (Driver's License or passport) and your reference number. Both the bride and groom are required to appear before the Clerk of the Court.

Now your are ready to get married!!

After your ceremony your minister & witnesses will sign your papers. One of the signed papers needs to be returned to the court house.

Question: What is the weather like in winter?

Answer: Typically, the weather never changes. It is always a mild 85-89 degrees. The "Christmas Winds" in November and December drop the evening temperature to about 75 degrees. This is "chilly!"

Question: When is the hurricane season?

Answer: June 6th - October 15th, but history has shown mid September to be our most vulnerable time.

Question: What is the summer weather like?

Answer: The same holds true in summer, 85-89 degrees, the humidity gets a little higher and the fog comes in from Montserrat. Nothing a tourist would notice that much.

Question: Is the court open on Sundays and Holidays?

Answer: Yes, on Sundays and some local holidays only, (9:30 am-11:30 am) by arrangement made only through your wedding coordinator. There is an additional fee of $150 per couple.
